5. Pit Boss Grills 75275 Gas Grill
The Pit Boss Grills 75275 gas grill is one good-looking grill with a sturdy stainless steel construction and other features only found in top-end outdoor grills. It features a grate made of high-grade stainless steel and two 10000 BTU gas burners. It heats up pretty fast so keep an eye on the food until you get the hand of it, but the best news is that this small gas grill doesn’t have hot spots like most gas grills have. It cooks evenly and deliciously.
We highly recommend this small grill for both home and outdoor use. If you want a compatible folding stand, we recommend buying the Cuisinart CFGS-150.
- High grade stainless steel construction
- Thin heat shield plates
- Folding legs can’t be locked
- Grill prone to flare-ups when grilling surface is overcrowded
4. Cuisinart CGG-180T Petit Gourmet
This small gas grill is perfect for a patio, small apartments, or small backyards. But despite its small size, the grilling area is large enough to cook food for 4 to 6 people. It works with small propane bottles that you can buy from Walmart or Home Depot, but you can also purchase an adapter to pair it to a 20 lb propane tank.
This tiny gas grill’s biggest plus is its compact briefcase-style design, which makes it very portable. At just 2,2 lbs, the unit gets so small when folded up that it can be easily stored in a closet. It is the perfect alternative to the full-size grill as you can virtually take it anywhere.
- Very portable (lightweight, carrying handle, lid lock, telescopic stand)
- Lid can be temporarily removed
- Compact (legs collapse under the unit)
- Hard to find replacement for burner element (check www.thefuhamgroup.com to see if they have it in stock)
- Thin materials
3. Char-Broil Performance 300 Cabinet Gas Grill
The Char-Broil Performance 300 2-Burner grill is a cabinet style gas grill that heats up lightning fast, unlike more expensive models that take ages to heat up, can retain heat, and it is fairly consistent. It is perfect for families of 2 to 4 members of users that lack space on patios, small condos, or small apartments.
The construction of this grill is quite impressive (lid and control panel are made of high-grade stainless steel), there are 2 fold down side shelves for extra preparation space and a storage cabinet with a door underneath the cooking surface. On top of that, the grill is impressively low maintenance, despite complaints about the grates sticking the food – we recommned using cooking oil to prevent that.
- Impressive design and quality of built
- Can be converted to natural gas
- Doesn’t get very very hot
- Assembly required but it is easy to put together
2. Blackstone Table Top Gas Grill – 17″
The Blackstone flat top grill is a small gas grill that will revolutionize your outdoor cooking. It heats up very fast, there’s no risk of flare-ups, and will allow you to cook a wide variety of things on it (from eggs and pancakes to burgers and steaks). This is one of the best small gas grills we have reviewed as there is no risk of lost flavor due to leaked juices as with other gas grills in its size category.
Even though the 17” grilling surface might seem too small, it can easily accommodate food for a family of four (and nobody will starve). If you want to cook for larger groups we recommend the 22” model, which is a bit pricier but it comes with 2 burners for adjustable heat zones. The only downside is that it needs to be seasoned prior to use – we recommend using flax seed oil and the oven for consistent results.
- Heavy duty and very easy to use
- Grease drains well and the grill does its job exquisitely
- Griddle’s surface needs to be seasoned before first use (see video below)
- Wind issues (you’ll need to use a wind shield)
1. Coleman RoadTrip LXE Propane Grill
The RoadTrip LXE by Coleman is a very impressive small gas grill with is high-quality built and collapsible design. Coleman, a reputable outdoor gear brand, recommends this grill for outdoor use like road trips, tailgating, and RV, but it can be used with no problem indoors as it is very easy to use and clean.
The high-quality materials and solid construction have impressed us the most. The rack is made of thick heavy-duty metal for you not to worry about bending or warping. The generous grilling surface heats up super-fast and retains heat like more expensive models do.
The RoadTrip LXE comes with a collapsible stand and two sliding side trays. To store it in your car trunk, you’ll just need to lower the unit and slide back until leg extensions are secured into the brackets on the bottom of the grill stand. For all its perks and price, this small gas grill is every camper’s dream come true.
- Well-designed, compact and quality built
- Generous cooking surface
- Portable and collapsible design
- Locking latch doesn’t stay in place
- The grill grate portion above the flame gets really hot when on high setting
